How to create a personal tax account (Government Gateway)?
In order to create a personal tax account, you will need the following information:

18 simple steps to create a personal tax account
Step 1 – Set up or create a personal tax account
For creating personal tax account, you will need to start the process by visiting www.gov.uk/personal-tax-account and click on the “Start Now” button.
STEP 2 – Prove your identity
Select the “create an account” option and click continue.
Step 3 – Create an account
In this step, you have to choose how to register. Most clients find the “Government Gateway” option more manageable so select the “Create a Government Gateway account” option.
The next screen might present you with COVID-19 guidance. If you see this guidance, select the “continue to your account” option at the bottom of the page.
Step 4 – Create sign in details
Select the “Set up a user ID” option on this page
Step 5 – Enter your email address
Enter your email address and select continue.
Step 6 – Confirm your email
HMRC would have emailed you a code to verify your email. Check the code and enter it in this section and select continue. Select continue on the following screen as well.
Step 7 – Provide your name
Enter your name and click on the continue option.
Step 8 – Create a password
Create a password, then confirm the password and select continue
Step 9 – Set up a recovery phrase
Select continue to provide a recovery phrase. This is used in case you forget your password for your personal tax account. Once you’ve entered the recovery word select continue.
Step 10 – Make a note of your User ID
You will now receive your User ID on screen. Make a note of this User ID. You should also receive this by email.
Step 11- Chose the type of account
Select the “Individual” option and then move to the next option.
Step 12 – Set up additional security
On the next screens, you will need to set up additional security. The easiest option to secure a personal tax account is to set up text message security. Select text message and select continue.
Step 13 – Enter the mobile number
Now enter the mobile number and select continue
Step 14 – Enter the access code
Enter the access code you have received via text message and select “Continue.” Your personal tax account gateway has now been set up. You now need to complete a few more steps.
Step 15 – Confirm your identity
HMRC will now ask you for a few details to match the records. Please enter the details and select the continue button when complete.
Step 16 – Choose a way to identify you
Here you can choose any of the options available to you for the purposes of your personal account identification. In most cases, a UK passport might be the easiest option. Then select Continue to provide consent to share information and select continue again.
Step 17 – Enter your passport information
In this step, please enter your details exactly as they appear on your Passport. Once completed, then select continue. You will see a message saying, “We have confirmed your identity,” if the information is correct, move to the next option.
Step 18 – Choose if you want to go paperless
Final step! Select whether you want to go paperless, and choose to continue.
