How to Set Up a Direct Debit for Gateway Account (step by step process)

Step 1 – Log in to your Government Gateway Account
Start your Direct Debit setup by visiting the HMRC login page (https://www.gov.uk/log-in-register-hmrc-online-services). Enter your Government Gateway ID & Password and then click Sign In box.

Step 2 – Check your account details
Click on Set up a Direct Debit after logging in to your Gateway Account. Please double check your Accounts Office Reference Number to ensure that payments you make gets allocated to correct account.
Step 3 – Provide your email address
Please enter your Email Address so that the authentication link is sent to your Inbox.
Once the verification email is received in your provided email’s inbox, please click the link and follow the instructions.
Step 4 – Select the type of bank
Please select the type of bank you will be using to make the payments for PAYE.
Step 5 – Provide bank details to complete the Direct Debit setup
Please provide your bank details by entering account holder’s name, sort code, and account number. Please also select if you are the account holder.
After providing the above details, please follow the instructions and the setup will be completed.
